20180508T1230 20180508T1300 America/New_York Critical Infrastructure as a Public Cloud: Lessons Learned and Shared

Few people would deny that, like the Internet, public cloud has become critical infrastructure. Unlike almost all other critical infrastructure, public cloud is still very much bright and shiny – as a highly competitive landscape and global demand drives record growth and daily technology advancements.

Like all critical infrastructure, resilience and trust are fundamental. For public cloud, information security is the bedrock upon all else is built.  As Microsoft’s Azure has grown and matured, lessons have been learned. Executing security at scale is hard. Enforcing security policies across continents is hard. Defending infrastructure and customer data from simultaneous attacks by multiple governments is hard. Protecting the integrity of a global supply chain is hard. Security is hard; but each lesson learned has improved Azure.

If sharing is caring, then let's share some of those hard-fought lessons and apply them to other critical infrastructure environments as they too integrate into the connected world and ascend the technology ladder.
